Irish cream coffee

After-dinner coffee has been a tradition for hundreds of years, and while coffee in itself is a luxury, many people opt to augment their brew with a potent potable. Liqueurs are the traditional favorite, as they have a sweet, unassuming flavor. These coffee hybrids tend to be rich and decadent, served by themselves are as an accompaniment to dessert. One of the mainstays in this ongoing relationship between coffee and liquor is the traditional Irish cream coffee.

While you can certainly embellish the recipe, a basic Irish cream coffee is simply one cup of coffee and a liberal shot of Irish cream. You can enhance the taste of your beverage by using gourmet coffee beans that have been infused with Irish cream.

A Thoughtful Gift for Coffee Lovers

gourmet coffee brands

Like most American workplaces, my business would be much less productive if coffee were removed from the equation. From the moment the day starts, employees are lining up in the break room to get their morning dose of caffeine. I’ve noticed that my administrative assistant, Rebecca, is constantly refilling her insulated coffee thermos. It seems to bolster her chipper attitude and impressive work ethic.

That’s why I was inspired to buy Rebecca a coffee-themed gift for her birthday earlier this year. I searched online for a collection of beans from gourmet coffee brands and stumbled across one with a bold selection of beans from around the globe. Watching my assistant open the gift, I knew I had made the right choice.

Colombian coffee

One coffee that is recognized worldwide for its high quality and distinct taste is Colombian coffee. The European Union has even granted it a Protected Designation of Origin in 2007 because of its unique flavor. When roasted, it has a bright acidity, heavy body and very aromatic. That is why the United States, Germany, Japan, Switzerland and The netherlands are importers of this coffee.

There is even a logo that was created back in 1959 that will identify that the coffee is from Columbia. Juan Valdez, his mule Conchita and the Columbian mountains are the familiar symbols of Colombian coffee. When you see this logo, you are sure of the origins of the coffee and have approval from the National Federation of Coffee Growers. So, when you buy your coffee, make sure you see Juan Valdez on it first.

No Caffeine Jolt In These Beans

gourmet decaf coffee

On every street corner, you will almost always find a café. Coffee drinking has become a national past time. But if you love the taste of coffee but don’t necessarily like the effects of caffeine in your system then drinking decaf is the alternative. And because some people don’t react well to regular decaf coffee, gourmet decaf coffee is fast becoming popular. It allows you to enjoy the taste of coffee without compromising your health.

Some researchers say that the normal decaffeination process uses chemicals to remove the caffeine from the bean and therefore poses more of a health risk.  Organic decaf coffee does not undergo the same process. It uses only pure Swiss water to separate the caffeine.  So it is completely healthy.  No adverse side effects.  Just 100% great coffee flavor without the jolt of caffeine.

caramel macchiatosCoffee has emerged into a social tool in the United States. If you ask anyone what their favorite Starbucks drink is, I’m sure they’ll have an answer. I’m a huge fan of the caramel macchiatos! But what’s even greater than its taste is they way people have learned to congregate around it; it’s become a symbol of unity. And the best part is, you don’t need designer coffee to make it a social event.

Brew up a batch of delicious mocha java coffee and stand on you local street corner, pot in hand.  Within five minutes of your presence I guarantee you’ll have neighbors galore at your side requesting a taste of that aromatic goodness. And based on how much they drink, they’ll probably bee nice and chatty too. Who would have thought it? Coffee – a delicious energy-infused beverage and a social atmospheric creator all in one.

Exploring gourmet coffee

gourmet coffee

If you drink the same old coffee every morning, you might enjoy your routine and never venture to try other kinds. But sampling some gourmet coffee could change your whole outlook on coffee; you may never go back! If you’re hesitant to go out of your way to buy gourmet coffee, consider that you’d still be saving money by buying gourmet beans or pre-ground coffee and making it at home instead of stopping at a coffee shop every morning. Keep track of your coffee purchases for a month and see how much money you could save – and how much better quality coffee you could enjoy – by buying gourmet coffee to make at home.If you decide to explore some gourmet coffee brands to find one you love, keep in mind a few ways to store your coffee to keep it tasting best. If you buy coffee in bulk, keep it in the freezer to keep it fresh.

Otherwise, storing coffee in an airtight, room temperature container works. To keep coffee fresh at room temperature, you want to eliminate: oxygen, water, excessive heat, direct sunlight and other flavors. This means a solid (not see-through glass) canister with an airtight lid would work great, as long as it’s stored away from heat sources (oven, microwave) and sunlight (windows). Never store coffee in the refrigerator! Water particles from the moist environment will rob your coffee of flavor, and flavors from other food can seep into it. With special care, gourmet coffee can taste just as good from the first cup to the last.
